WHY DON'T YOU E-MAIL ME SOMETIME?
When you're face-to-face with a person, you have the opportunity to observe
that person's body language and facial expressions. Unfortunately this luxury is
missing when you're trying to connect online, where you are instead relying
solely on the other person's verbal skills and use of language. This can
certainly help you when it comes to in-person meetings, where many singles panic
about how to make that approach, what opening lines to use, and what to say.
To add some spice to your messages (and also to translate the sender's
notes), it's wise to familiarize yourself with frequently used online
idiosyncratic terms. For example, some symbols or shorthand expressions you can
use to reflect actions are:
:) for a smille
;) for a wink
LOL for "laughing out loud"
BRB for "be right back"
Designs for kissing and physical contact range from the simple to the more
elaborate. Get creative in making up your own, just as you would in any
"conversation". You can also use different colors or background to
express yourself.
You can learn the ins and outs of these techniques by observing how others
use them in chat rooms. Many areas also have guides and help commands, and
others in the chat room will give you (some-times unsolicited) feedback on how
you are doing.
